However, vegetable production is increasingly challenged by climate \r\nvariability, water scarcity, soil degradation, emerging pests and diseases, rising \r\nproduction costs, labour shortages and the need to produce safe and nutritious \r\nfood with fewer environmental impacts. Addressing these challenges requires a \r\ntransition from conventional production systems toward knowledge-intensive, \r\nresource-efficient and technology-enabled vegetable production.

\r\nThe book Advances in Vegetable Science and Smart Technologies \r\nbrings together recent developments in vegetable science and emerging \r\ntechnologies that are reshaping the production, protection, quality management \r\nand value addition of vegetable crops. It provides a comprehensive perspective \r\non how advances in genetics, breeding, physiology, biotechnology, precision \r\nagriculture, artificial intelligence, remote sensing, Internet of Things, automation \r\nand digital decision-support systems can contribute to sustainable and profitable \r\nvegetable production. Particular emphasis is placed on modern approaches for \r\ncrop improvement, including molecular breeding, genomics, genome editing, \r\nhigh-throughput phenotyping and speed breeding. The book also explores smart \r\napproaches to crop nutrition, irrigation, protected cultivation, pest and disease \r\nmanagement, and postharvest handling. Technologies such as sensors, drones, \r\nrobotics, computer vision, machine learning and AI-enabled decision-support \r\nsystems are discussed in the context of real-time monitoring and site-specific \r\nmanagement.

\r\nBeyond technological advancement, the book recognizes that successful \r\ninnovation must be economically viable, environmentally responsible and \r\naccessible to farmers. Therefore, attention is also given to resource-use \r\nefficiency, climate-smart production, digital agriculture, smart greenhouse \r\nsystems, soil and water management, food quality and sustainable value chains. \r\nThe integration of traditional scientific knowledge with emerging digital \r\ntechnologies offers considerable opportunities to improve productivity while \r\nreducing resource consumption and production risks. This book is intended for \r\nstudents, researchers, teachers, agricultural professionals, extension workers, \r\npolicymakers and progressive farmers seeking an updated understanding of contemporary vegetable science and smart technologies. It is also expected to \r\nserve as a useful reference for researchers working at the interface of \r\nhorticulture, plant science, biotechnology, precision agriculture and digital \r\nagriculture. The future of vegetable production will depend not simply on \r\nproducing more vegetables, but on producing better-quality food with greater \r\nprecision, efficiency, resilience and sustainability. It is hoped that this book will \r\ncontribute to that transition by bringing together scientific advances and practical \r\ntechnological perspectives, while inspiring further research and innovation for \r\nthe next generation of vegetable production systems.","price":749,"sellingPrice":749,"DOIDetail":"doi","bookGallery":["/uploads/PublishedBook/Advances in Vegetable Science and Smart Technologies_Gallery2.png"],"bookSales":0,"bookRoyalty":0,"bookBy":["66ada297d95098bca5841d28"],"category":"695eb882b0659e48a719bb40","bookGenre":[],"show":true,"date_time":"2026-09-19T01:57:38.036Z","bookCover":"/uploads/PublishedBook/Advances in Vegetable Science and Smart Technologies_Cover.png","__v":0}
